At the college level, we cannot require students to attend class sessions outside of the usual schedule due to emergenices or snow days.  This means that we cannot add days to the end of the semester (a practice used in elementary schools); we can't ask students to come in on a saturday, and we can't schedule classes during winter or spring breaks.

If your class has been cancelled due to an emergency or inclement weather, you may ask students to complete assignments online, assign additional reading, and/or write an additional paper or complete a project to cover the missed course content.  As always, if you have a concern about course content please talk with your department chair.  If you need advice or have questions about teaching methods, feel free to also speak with Stefanie Forster in Academic Affairs.
