The Beacon Project is a retention initiative that seeks to help "at risk" students.  These are students who may have erratic attendance, low grades, or who don't participate in class discussion or activities.  Faculty members refer these students to the Director of Retention, who makes contact with the student to discuss their options.  The success of this program stems from instructor referrals, so it is important to identify those students who may benefit from advising and make a referral to the Beacon Project as early in the semester as possible.  Refer students who are in danger of failing, who are having issues with attendance, or those who may benefit from tutoring or academic assistance.  For a copy of the referral form, click here.
